We are gamers volume 20 – Mintendo Land

Mindy aka Minz, aka Mintendo Land

100th blog post, 20th chapter of the “we are gamers” series, and what better way to celebrate than featuring the nicest, most friendly Nintendoholic that I know?
I cannot even begin to describe her passion for Nintendo, but there is no need either: her collection speaks for itself. So, if you too are a fan of the Big N, what are you waiting for? It is time to enter Mintendo Land’s world!

1. Welcome Mindy and many thanks for accepting my invitation. For a starter, please introduce yourself to RGL’s readers.

My name is Mindy but most people call me Minz or Min. I guess you say I am a Super Mario & Nintendo Enthusiast? I’m far beyond obsessed or even just a collector 😂
Currently I am a content creator and Live streamer. I do toy unboxing, building, and reviews. Also trading card pack openings. A lot of times I give tours of my multi room collection and as well as streaming games including ones I play with viewers online.
My collection is called  “Mintendo Land” as someone once mentioned it looked like a toy store or a place people would stand in line to walk through because everything is on display, organized, and oh so eye-pleasing! I’ve been collecting for years but didn’t start to get serious until 2016 when I had a couple hundred items – I’m almost to 4,000 now.
Outside of my collection I’m a mom, an avid crafter and artist, Ordained Minister, and I have 4 kitties 🖤

2. What was the first video game you ever played?

Tom and Jerry on the NES or the first Super Mario Bros game.

3. What about the first gaming system you ever owned?

I didn’t own my first console until I was much older. Both my parents had Nintendo Consoles at their houses.

4. Were you an arcade gamer? If you were, what about your favorite titles back in the 80s/90s?

I was born in the 80s and spent a lot of time at the mall and bowling alleys in the early 90s – which all had arcades and pinballs.
My favorite (then and now) sit down arcade game would be Crazy Taxi!!
For pinball, my favorites were The Addams Family and Attack on Mars.
Also so many hours playing skee ball!

5. I am going to name a few video game genres: please tell me your favorite retro title for each of them:

Ok, but you’re making me choose between my children. 😂

a) Adventure
Breath of the Wild (I consider this more of an Open World game)
b) Platformers
Some little mustachioed plumber and his bro!
c) Puzzle Games
Katamari Forever!
d) RPGs
FF7, FF9, FF2, Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, Secret of Mana.
e) Racers
MARIO KART FOR LIFE!!! Also Uniracers on the SNES (an all time fav I stream regularly!)
f) Shooters
Probably my least favorite genre.. .Goldeneye would probably be the only one I liked playing.
PRO TIP: trying playing two player with your own rule set. My brother and I used to pick only one weapon like the throwing knives OR just slapping only. We’d laugh so hard we didn’t care who won 😆
g) Sports Games
If any of the Tony Hawk games count, then all of those!
h) Any other games whose genre I did not mention?
Multiplayer Online Games.. FALL GUYS!!!

6. While growing up, what gaming system did you have the most fun with? Are you still a regular gamer?

The Super Nintendo console

Yeah, we were playing with Super Power…

That’s a hard one! Super Nintendo but we played so much GameCube and PS1 as well.
Of course, I still game! I do Super NES Sundays w/Minz on the Tiktok and Twitch (coming soon!)

7. What is your relationship with the online gaming world? Do you play online with your friends/family members/random gamers?

I love playing Mario Kart and Fall Guys online with friends but I also play Dungeons and Dragons online too!

8. What are your finest memories related to video games?

Super Mario (and Nintendo in general) helped me through my entire adolescence… My parents being divorced and having to go back and forth for weekends, moving a lot (I went to 6 elementary schools,) being super poor, and being then nerdy new kid who didn’t have any friends.
Both of my daughters were born with controllers in hand and we were able to bond playing games together.

9. What prompted you to start a TikTok page?

Mindy's TikTok page: mintendo_land

Mindy’s TikTok page: mintendo_land

I actually had another account that was beyond 10k followers but it was focused on a part of my life I am trying to move past.
Depression had a good hold on me in 2021 and I found that when I started to focus on my collection, it started to ease up.
When I started this Tiktok late 2021, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with it but during the pandemic my collection grew more than double its size and I wanted to share with others.. maybe find other collectors and connect with people who get my weird obsession 🖤

10. What is the goal of Mintendo Land?

I had to sit down and think down and think about this…
Definitely not looking to get famous or make a bunch of money. Also, not looking for free stuff lol.
This past year I have made so many friends and have tons of super cool supporters that have given me ideas for my live streams that I have become inspired by AND dedicated to creating Live streams that are fun to watch and interact just for them!
So, my goal is to keep growing, sharing, and connecting with cool peeps!

11. Last but not least: any future plans or secret wishes?

Future plans include becoming more multi platform on Instagram, Twitch, and YouTube. Eventually, start going to conventions and other events.
Secret wishes? Ah jeez, my collection wishlist is ever growing.
Maybe get sponsored by Jakks, Lego, Hot Wheels, etc….. or even Nintendo 😻
